Wednesday 8th January - walks **** – Felixstowe sunrise and Chantry Park in Ipswich – cloudy and cold.

Walk 1 – frosty sunrise Felixstowe prom.

As we were meeting up with my sister for an appointment in Ipswich in the afternoon I thought I would get up and walk down to Felixstowe seafront to catch a frosty sunrise, leaving home around 7.30 it looked promising as the sky was clear but sadly there was a bank of could out to sea which meant I didn’t actually get to see the sun but I did get a spell of colour so managed a few nice pics:) Then home to warm up with my electric blanket to sort out my pics and send them to the TV weather and for the third day running managed to get one on ITV’s About Anglia, the lovely Aisling today:)

Walk 2 – Circuit of Christchurch Park in Ipswich including our first picnic of the new year!

The forecast sunny periods failed to arrive so we had a cloudy, chilly day for our trip to Ipswich, we left at midday and managed to park entering the park by the Westerfield Road entrance soon spotting our first squirrels, in the end we lost count as there were so many, nice plump ones too, sadly we forgot to take our peanuts with us:( We walked down the the round lake which was partially frozen with gull standing on the ice! Then over to the Wilderness Pond where Mag feed the gulls and ducks which went wild, several squirrels came over and we spotted a few rats too! We did a circuit coming out by the tennis courts before having our picnic by the old bowling green and were soon surrounded by yet more squirrels, magpies and pigeons before walking into Ipswich to meet up with my sister. After the appointment we went for a coffee and chat and got a bonus bag of free pastries. We then walked back through the park as the whistle was being blown to signal it was closing!
